According to latest updates from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), a new Rs 20 currency note will be released with some latest features. New notes of denominations such as Rs 10, Rs 50, Rs 100, Rs 500, Rs 200 and Rs 2,000 have been released by the central bank.
From November 2016, a new look has been introduced to the notes under the Mahatma Gandhi series and are different in design and size as compared to the previously issued notes, Business Standard reported.
The old series of notes continue to function as legal tender after the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes were banned during demonetisation. Furthermore, the Rs 20 note, according to data provided by the RBI, accounts for 9.8 per cent of the total number of notes in circulation as of March 2018, Business Standard wrote in its article.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
