India's Covid-19 Tally Rises To Over 15 Lakh With 48,513 New Cases, Death Toll Increases To 34,193

With a spike of 48,513 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India has surged to 1,531,669, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Wednesday (29 July).
According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 5,09,447 are active cases while at least 9,88,029 people have been cured of the disease.
The number of Covid-19 deaths in the country has increased from previous day's 33,425 to 34,193, an increase of 768 in the last 24 hours.
Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state and reported 7,717 new infections, taking its tally to 3,91,440 including 14,165 fatalities, followed by Tamil Nadu (2,27,688), Delhi (1,32,275) and Karnataka (1,07,001).
States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Delhi (3,881), Tamil Nadu (3,659), Gujarat (2,372), Karnataka (2,055), Uttar Pradesh (1,497), West Bengal (1,449), Andhra Pradesh (1,148) and Madhya Pradesh (830).
The national capital recorded a single-day spike of 1,056 cases taking the tally beyond 1.31 lakh cases of which 10,887 were active cases as 3,881 people died and 1,17,507 were cured and discharged.
