In a positive development, India has successfully completed vaccinating more than 58 lakh healthcare and frontline workers against COVID-19 as of the twenty-third day since the launch of the nationwide programme which was kicked-off on 16 January, reports Hindustan Times.
The nation has inoculated the third-highest number of people anywhere in the world after the United States (US) and the United Kingdom (UK).
Out of the 58,03,617 people who were vaccinated as of 6.40pm on Sunday (7 February), 53,17,760 were healthcare workers and 4,85,857 were frontline workers.
It should be noted that only about 28,059 beneficiaries were vaccinated on Sunday (as of 6.40pm) given only 12 States carried out the vaccination activity. These were Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tripura and Uttarakhand. Among these, none reported any adverse events following immunisation.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh continues to lead the nation in terms of the number of people vaccinated so far at 6,73,652 people. Maharashtra and Gujarat follow it with 4,73,480 and 4,46,367 people having received the jabs, respectively. Other than these, Karnataka has so far vaccinated 3,88,476 people, Madhya Pradesh 3,42,016, Bihar 3,79,042 and Kerala 2,92,195.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
