Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Wednesday (28 August) launched a fresh attack on Congress for its stance following revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and said that former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the grand old party alone are the “root cause” of the J&K problem, reports The Hindu.
The BSP chief said this while addressing a meeting of party’s central executive committee and all-India state office-bearers. In the meeting, she was “unanimously” re-elected the national president of the party.
“...Had the Congress Party completed the work of ending Article 370 during the long period of its rule, today the conditions in Jammu and Kashmir would have been better and the BJP would not have got an opportunity to play politics under its pretext,” Mayawati was quoted in the report as saying.
She slammed Congress and other opposition parties for visiting Kashmir recently as it gave opportunity for the BJP and J&K Governor to “play politics.
The BSP chief also vowed to never “stop or bend, let alone break down” in the interest of the party and its movement.
