One out of three men who had fled a quarantine centre in Kerala on 16 March have been caught by authorities all the way out in Assam’s New Bongaigaon railway station yesterday (19 March), Times of India has reported.
The three who are natives of Assam, Bengal and Odisha respectively, had fled quarantine from a Kozikhode hotel. The Assam man then travelled by train from Parak to Chennai and then to Howrah via Chennai-Howrah Mail.
He then went via road from Howrah to Sealdah to catch the Kanchanjunga Express which goes to Silchar, he was scheduled to get down at Guwahati but was nabbed by authorities at New Bongaigaon after they launched a massive manhunt to track him down.
After deboarding him, he was made to undergo medical tests and the passengers travelling in his coach too were thermal screened.
He has now been kept at an isolation ward in a Railways hospital guarded by cops to prevent him from fleeing again.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
