West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made a statement on Wednesday (4 March) alleging that panic was being spread in the name of Coronavirus to cover up Delhi violence, Times Now has reported.
“People are screaming corona, corona. Don’t panic. Some (media) channels are trying to cover up the Delhi violence with the coronavirus panic”, Mamata was quoted as saying.
She added that people should not panic over the disease and that those killed in Delhi violence did not die due to Coronavirus.
“Had people died of coronavirus, we could have still understood that they died because of disease that does not have treatment as yet”, said Mamata.
Till now a total of 28 positive Coronavirus cases have been detected in India so far. Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan informed that the authorities will now screen all international flights for suspected Coronavirus cases.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
