United Kingdom (UK) has given the go ahead for international drug syndicate operator Kishan Singh's extradition to India, reports Times Of India.
The legal proceedings for the handover of Singh had been going on for two years previously.
The report added that sources have confirmed that a team of Indian officials is currently in London to finalise the process.
Singh, a British citizen of Indian origin, from Rajasthan was arrested on 23 August 2018 by authorities in the UK.
In February 2017, the Delhi Special cell had busted his syndicate. The case made headlines when Commonwealth Game's Silver medallist in Discus throwing Harpreet Singh and two associates of Kisan Singh were arrested.
A UK court acquiesced to Kishan Singh's extradition in May 2019, which was challenged and subsequently upheld by the court.
Singh's extradition is the second such event in the past 13 months, as Sanjeev Chawla, a bookie wanted for 2000 cricket match-fixing, was extradited to India in February 2020.
These extraditions have happened under the India-UK extradition treaty signed in 1992.
Indian authorities are also in the process to obtain the extradition of Nirav Modi, a fugitive economic offender and Vijay Mallya, accused of loan default up to the tune of 9,000 crore.
A UK Court has given go-ahead to extradition of Nirav Modi last month.

Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
