The United States (US) President Donald Trump said on Saturday (20 June) that the US is engaged with both India and China to help resolve the ongoing border tensions between the two nations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), reports Economic Times.
Speaking to the reporters, President Trump said, "It's a very tough situation. We're talking to India. We're talking to China. They've got a big problem there." He also added, "They have come to blows, and we'll see what happens. We'll try and help them out."
The latest statement by President Trump comes at a time when over the past few days, the Trump Administration's top brass led by Secretary of State Michael Pompeo has openly come out in support of India against China's excesses along the border.
“The PLA (People's Liberation Army) has escalated border tensions with India, the world's most populous democracy. It's militarizing the South China Sea and illegally claiming more territory there, threatening vital sea lanes," US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had said a day earlier.
While 20 Indian soldiers including an officer have been martyred amid the ongoing tensions between the two Asian giants, as per US intelligence, as many 35 Chinese soldiers have also been killed by the Indian soldiers in retaliation against their belligerent and unilateral adventurism on the LAC.
