India is quickly moving towards the psychological one-crore-cases milestone, and continues to be the second worst-hit after the US.
As the mercury dropped below 10 degrees Celsius in many parts of northern India, only 22,065 new coronavirus cases were recorded in the past 24 hours taking the overall tally to 99,06,165 on Tuesday (15 December) as 354 deaths were also reported, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

The total deaths have touched 1,43,709.
Till now, 94,22,636 people have recovered, and over 34,477 in the last 24 hours. Currently, there are 3,39,820 active cases. The recovery rate stands at 94.98 per cent, and the fatality rate is 1.45 per cent.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
