With 47,703 New Cases, India's Covid-19 Tally Rises To 14.83 Lakh; Fatalities Surge Past 33,000

With a spike of 47,703 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India has surged to 1,483,156, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Tuesday (28 July).
According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 4,96,988 are active cases while at least 9,52,743 people have been cured of the disease.
The number of Covid-19 deaths in the country has increased from previous day's 32,771 to 33,425, an increase of 654 in the last 24 hours.
Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state and reported 7,924 new infections, taking its tally to 3,83,723, followed by Tamil Nadu (2,13,723), Delhi (1,31,219) and Karnataka (1,01,465).
States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Delhi (3,777), Tamil Nadu (3,494), Gujarat (2,326), Karnataka (1,878), Uttar Pradesh (1,426), West Bengal (1,372), Andhra Pradesh (1,041) and Madhya Pradesh (811).
The national capital recorded a single-day spike of 613 cases taking the tally beyond 1.3 lakh cases of which 11,904 were active cases as 3,827 people died and 1,14,875 were cured and discharged.
