Chief Minister MK Stalin accompanied by a number of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leaders today (30 October) paid respects to freedom fighter Muthuramalingam Thevar on the occasion of his 116th birth anniversary. He garlanded a statue of Thevar at Goripalayam in Madurai.
Later he laid the foundation stone for the construction of a flyover and garlanded the statue of the Marudhu brothers in Teppakulam.
The Marudhu brothers, are known for their 'declaration of independence.'
Chief Minister Stalin also visited Pasumpon village, in Ramanathapuram district to pay respects to Thevar, at his memorial.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K Annamalai too paid their respects and garlanded the statue at Goripalayam.
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) also paid his respects.
