  • The upcoming Anand Bullet Train Station on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSAR) in Gujarat will pay homage to India's White Revolution, as per officials from the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).

    The station's facade and interior will draw inspiration from the shape, colour, and flow of milk droplets, reflecting Anand's status as the "milk capital of India."

    Anand, a small town in Gujarat was the birthplace of India's 'White Revolution’, the world’s biggest dairy development program which transformed the dairy deficient nation into the global leader in milk production surpassing the US, China, Pakistan, Brazil and Europe. 

    Construction work for the Anand Station began in December 2021, and as of now, the concourse slab, track slab, and structural steel work are 100 per cent complete, according to an NHSRCL spokesperson.

    Anand is the first station on the MAHSR Corridor where 425-metre long concourse level (Station Level 1) has been completed.

    The Anand Bullet Train Station will boast impressive dimensions with a platform length of 415 metres, a height of 25.6 metres, and a total built-up area spanning 44,073 sq m.

    The station will feature three floors, two side platforms, and four tracks in between. Amenities will include ticketing and waiting areas, a business-class lounge, a nursery, restrooms, information booths, and retail centres, reports Free Press Journal.

    Located just 600 metres from the existing Uttarsanda railway station, the Anand Bullet Train Station offers convenient connectivity. The Nadiad Junction railway station is approximately 10 km away.

    Adjacent to the station building, facilities for passenger pick-up and drop-off, as well as parking, are planned. A pedestrian plaza space will also be included. The design emphasises segregated pick-up/drop-off areas to streamline private and public transport movement, particularly during peak hours, reducing congestion in the station forecourt.

    The Anand Bullet Train Station is set to become a modern transportation hub, integrating skylights and traffic solutions. It will connect passengers to nearby airports and railway stations, offering enhanced convenience and efficiency.

    The Ahmedabad-Mumbai High-Speed Rail Corridor is India's ambitious indigenous bullet train project, drawing inspiration from global high-speed trains.

    The total cost of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor is estimated at Rs 1.08 lakh crore. As per the shareholding pattern, the Government of India is responsible for contributing Rs 10,000 crore to NHSRCL, while the respective states of Gujarat and Maharashtra are expected to contribute Rs 5,000 crore each. The remaining funding will be provided by Japan through a loan with a negligible interest rate of 0.1 per cent.

    The first phase of the Mumbai to Ahmedabad High-Speed Bullet Train project, linking Surat to Bilimora, is set to become operational by August 2026.
