Just three days after an idol of Lord Ram was desecrated in Ramateertham village of Andhra Pradesh (AP)'s Vizianagaram district, another idol of Lord Subrahmanyeswara has been vandalised at the Ganesh Temple in the state's Rajamahendravaram city which is located in the East Godavari district, reports Asian News International (ANI).
The act of vandalism took place some time between 3am and 5am on Friday (1 January) morning, said Three Town Police Station's Circle Inspector Durga Prasad. He added that the policemen were patrolling the area till 3am and nothing happened till that time.
As per details shared by Prasad, the idol was found in a broken state when the temple's priest arrived at around 5am. He also added that though there are CCTV cameras, the footages from the same is not of much use as their position is not towards the idol.
Prasad also added, "It seems to be the misdeed of some miscreants."
The Police has registered a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC)'s sections 448, 427, 295 and 153(3) and a probe is underway in the matter.
