Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (17 January) flagged off eight trains connecting major destinations in various states of the country with the Statue of Unity in Gurjarat's Kevadiya, via video-conferencing. The eight trains will connect Kevadiya to Varanasi, Dadar, Ahmedabad, Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin, Rewa, Chennai and Pratapnagar.
One of the trains being flagged-off tomorrow is the Jan Shatabdi Express between Ahmedabad and Kevadia. This train will have Vistadome coaches.

PM Modi asserted that train services are essential to boost tourism prospects of the Statue of Unity in Kevadiya. He believes that these developments will also help in transforming the lives of the tribal communities based in the region. PM Modi added that around one lakh tourists will visit Kevadiya on a daily basis as the connectivity services improves.
One of the features of the train journeys will be the vistadome coaches attached to the Jan Shatabdi to Kevadiya. These state of the art coaches will allow passengers to get a clear view of the surroundings including the sky.

The Dabhoi-Chandod-Kevadiya connectivity section comprises of 50 km electrified section whereas the rightwards arrow Pratapnagar-Kevadiya section comprising of 80 km of electrified section. PM Modi said that that these new developments will open up avenues of self-employment for the people in the region.
