Karnataka’s Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy (HDK)has all the reasons to mourn today as his father and son are both trailing in the seats that they have tried against all odds to keep in their kitty.
Sitting MP H D Devegowda, the patriarch of the Gowda family and former Prime Minister, who has won from the Hassan Lok Sabha seat for five consecutive times to date, gave up the seat for his grandson Prajwal Revanna. This definitely did secure the seat for Revanna’s son, as Hassan is the family’s traditional stronghold.
But H D Devegowda is sadly trailing in Tumkur as is his other grandson and CM HDK’s son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who is contesting against independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh. Nikhil is trailing by over 80,000 votes while granddad ‘dodda gowdru’ is trailing by over 16,000 votes.
