The selection process for the idol of Lord Ram Lalla for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has been successfully completed, Bimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra, the trustee of Ram Janmbhoomi Teertha Kshetra, said on Friday (29 December).

The decision was reached during a meeting of the trust, wherein members undertook a voting process to finalise the idol that will be installed inside the sanctum sanctorum of the majestic temple.

As reported by Hindustan Times, shedding light on the parameters of the selection process, Mishra emphasised that the chosen idol should mesmerise its viewers.

"When you see the idol, it speaks to you. Even if multiple idols are placed together, the eyes will get fixated on the one that will be the best," explained Mishra."

"There was a voting system, and we gave our preferences. The unanimously selected idol will be brought for Pran Pratishtha," he added.

Earlier this week, trust secretary Champat Rai had shared that among three designs, a 51-inch-tall idol of Lord Ram, reflecting a five-year-old Ram Lalla, would be chosen based on divineness and a childlike appearance.

Meanwhile, Shri Ram Mandir Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Misra conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction work on the Ram Janmabhoomi Path and the complex.

He said the work is being done qualitatively and not hastily, ensuring sufficient time is invested in the process.

The consecration ceremony is scheduled to span seven days, starting on 16 January, with the deity of Ram Lalla set to be consecrated on 22 January during the 'Mrigashira Nakshatra' in the afternoon.
