Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the world's first semi-high-speed passenger train on high-rise overhead electric (OHE) land in Rajasthan on April 12. The train, Vande Bharat Express, will make its maiden journey between the railway stations in Jaipur and Delhi Cantt.
Following its launch, from 13 April 2023, the Vande Bharat Express will operate regularly between Ajmer and Delhi Cantt., with stops in Jaipur, Alwar, and Gurgaon. The train will cover the Ajmer-Delhi Cantt. route in just 5 hours and 15 minutes. This travel time is 60 minutes less than the current quickest train on the route, the Shatabdi Express.
The Indian Railways has not yet released any information regarding the schedule and frequency of the Vande Bharat Express. However, news reports suggest that the train is expected to operate six times a week.
"As per the proposed timings, the Ajmer-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express will depart from Ajmer at 6:10 AM and reach New Delhi at 12:15 PM taking 6 hours and 5 minutes. En route it will stop at Jaipur, Alwar and Gurugram railway stations," a report in the Times of India said.
