Bharatmala Pariyojana: Identified Choke Points Near Tourist Destinations To Be Rectified And Decongested

Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry has identified several choke and congestion points near the tourist destinations in various states to be decongested, to boost tourism.
The Ministry, primarily responsible for development and maintenance of National Highways, has undertaken the work for development of the highways, and improving road connectivity to tourist places by providing wayside amenities, adequate signages and roadside/median beautifications etc., under various schemes.
In addition, decongestion of about 125 choke points and 66 congestion points including the development of ring roads in around 28 cities has been identified in various states, including Uttar Pradesh, as part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana.
Out of 191 choke/congestion points, 56 choke/congestion points have been rectified and works have been taken up or awarded in 82 choke/congestion points.
Four ring roads have been identified for development in Uttar Pradesh, out of which works have been awarded or started in three ring roads.
Further nine choke/congestion points have been identified for development and eight out this have been rectified.
