Indore's Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport will enhance its airside amenities to support increased passenger traffic and modernise the airport infrastructure with advanced features.
The airport's upgrade will have an advanced ATC tower, a fire station, and a technical and communication building, with an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore, reports ET.
The foundation stone for the airport upgradation was laid by MP Shankar Lalwani.
He expressed, "Passenger traffic at Indore airport is increasing and looking at the rise in footfall, there is a need for an advanced airport with the latest technology. The new ATC, fire station and technical and communication buildings are being developed keeping in mind the future requirements of the city."
The upgraded ATC tower at Indore airport will be equipped with advanced, integrated features that enable up to 12 flight movements per hour, leading to a significant increase in the number of aircraft movements.
The airport is implementing new features and technologies to improve its aircraft handling capacity.
The enhanced technology in the ATC tower will enable the airport management team to manage aircraft from a distance of 150 km, an increment from the previous range of 100 km.
Additionally, as part of the upgradation plan, the old ATC and fire station will be relocated to make way for a new terminal.
The facilities for domestic and perishable cargo are already under construction at the airport.
