A journalist from Afghanistan's first independent news channel, TOLO News, was beaten up by Taliban in the capital city of Kabul on Thursday (26 August) while he was reporting.
The journalist, Ziar Khan Yaad, took to Twitter to narrate the incident and asked Taliban leaders to take action against the perpetrators of the attack.
"I was beaten by the Taliban in Kabul's New City while reporting. Cameras, technical equipment and my personal mobile phone have also been hijacked," Ziar Khan said in a tweet.
He further added that the reports of him being killed by the Taliban were false.
"The Taliban got out of an armored Land Cruiser and hit me at gunpoint," he added.
The journalist further said that he had raised the issue with Taliban leadership but the perpetrators have not been nabbed yet.
I still don't know why they behaved like that and suddenly attacked me. The issue has been shared with Taliban leaders; however, the perpetrators have not yet been arrested, which is a serious threat to freedom of expression.
