Social media users supporting Governor RN Ravi’s decision to walk out of the Tamil Nadu Assembly have started to trend #Article356 on social media.
Governor RN Ravi had walked out after delivering his annual inaugural address to the Assembly, when Chief Minister MK Stalin moved a resolution requesting the Speaker to take on record only the text prepared by the government.
The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) alleged that the Governor had omitted portions of the text referring to topics like the Dravidian model and Dravidian leaders like Periyar and CN Annadurai and its supporters started trending #GetOutRavi.
These people want the union government to take necessary action to dismiss the state government using its powers under Article 356.
Article 356 which is commonly known as President’s Rule is imposed when a state government is unable to function according to constitutional provisions. The union government then takes over the administration of the state through the Governor.
