AIMIM MP from Hyderabad Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday (28 July) came under fire from various twitter users after he raised objection to Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending the Ram Mandir's Bhoomi Pujan at Ayodhya in an official capacity by arguing that it would be a violation of his constitutional oath.
Owaisi in a tweet said that, "Attending Bhumi Pujan in official capacity will be a violation of @PMOIndia's constitutional oath. Secularism is part of the Basic Structure of Constitution..".

We canât forget that for over 400 years Babri stood in Ayodhya & it was demolished by a criminal mob in 1992 https://t.co/qt2RCvJOK1
Owaisi's argument that Prime Minister Modi attending the Bhoomi Pujan in an official capacity would be a violation of secularism did not go down well with many twitter users who retorted by asking whether lawmakers attending Iftaar parties too should not be opposed using this logic.
PMs/CMs Attending Iftar Party is Secular but attending Bhumi Pujan is violation of Constitutional oath. à¤à¤à¤¬à¥ हà¥à¥¤ https://t.co/1VjIV56etl

Donning skull cap and organizing iftaar parties is a symbol of secularism.

While applauding justice done after 492 years is threat to secularism.
Which book of secularism do these people read? #RamMandir https://t.co/Lgnc7n5Z8S
âSecularism is part of the Basic Structure or Constitutionâ says the man who wants laws based on religion, and more importantly such laws are accepted by the above mentioned fraudulent and conveniently ambiguous Basic Structure jurisprudence :) https://t.co/OsoaEskfKI

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to take part in the Bhoomi Pujan along with BJP stalwart L K Advani and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on 5 August in a ceremony conducted by revered Hindu saints.
The Prime Minister will also place a 40 kg silver brick at the construction site as part of the ceremony.
