In the Jagaddal area of Bhatpara, North 24 Parganas, bombs were hurled yesterday (17 March) at around 15 places, and the CCTV cameras installed by police were broken by three people, and their associates, BJP MP Arjun Singh alleged.
Three people including a child were injured in the incident, ACP AP Choudhury was quoted as saying by ANI.
Blaming "TMC goons” for the incident, BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya said that TMC is synonymous with 'politics of violence'.
“TMC is synonymous with 'politics of violence'. Even after implementation of MCC, goons are hurling bombs & firing bullets there. Election Commission should take it as a warning otherwise we suspect polling would not happen peacefully there,” he said.
West Bengal BJP leader Mukul Roy in Delhi said that the party will approach Election Commission regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, BJP West Bengal chief Dilip Ghosh in New Town Kolkata has informed that he will not be contesting the upcoming assembly polls.
"My name won't be there in the list of candidates contesting polls. Being state chief, the party has decided that poll campaigns in the state will be done under my supervision,” he was quoted as saying.
