In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a 17-year-old autistic student has emerged as one of the toppers of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 exams, reports The Tribune.
Aman Maqbool studies in Delhi Public School, Sharjah, and scored a 94.73 per cent in his board examinations, the results of which were declared on Monday (6 May).
Maqbool has been a consistently good performer throughout his school life and had written the exam with the aid of a scribe, the Khaleej Times reported.
His parents did not expect him to score so much. Aman’s father, Maqbool Ahmed, who is from Kerala and has been living in the UAE for the last 20 years, said, “After the exams, Aman told us he would score 80 per cent and above.”
“He has a photographic memory and has consistently scored high marks. He has never taken tuitions or special coaching,” he adds.
Buvaneswari Jayasankar from the Indian High School in Dubar was the topper. She had scored 99.2 per cent, with 100 in French, Mathematics and Social Sciences.
