VIPs residing in Chandigarh have been throwing temper tantrums over unavailability of luxury food products like Baskin Robbins Ice Cream, Figaro Olive Oil and strawberries, Indian Express has reported.
As per BJP councillor Mahesh Inder Singh Sidhu, he has been receiving calls from the city’s elite population demanding that he ask authorities why commodities like strawberries, broccoli and bell peppers were unavailable in the fruit and vegetable market.
He adds that one family also called him up to say that they only eat freshly baked bread prepared by Nik Bakers and that he should arrange for the same. He also claims that a few VIPs have also been going on their regular walks despite the lockdown.
The Chandigarh Municipal Commissioner K K Yadav has claimed that he has been receiving a lot of calls to arrange imported goods like Figaro Olive Oil as one family only eats vegetables cooked in olive oil. In another instance people complained about not getting broccoli.
A Congress councillor Devinder Singh Babla has said that he has received many calls to procure branded food products like Baskin Robbins ice-cream and skimmed milk. Also, despite the closure of liquor shops, many have inquired about the availability of high-end liquor brands.
Another government official was quoted as saying that some threatened to sue him after he expressed his inability to procure strawberries and kiwis.
