‘Cleanest Kumbh Mela In Modern History’: 1.22 Lakh Eco-Toilets, 50 RO Water ATMs Installed For Devotees

As part of the Swachh Kumbh, Surakshit Kumbh theme for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, the Mela authority has installed 1.22 lakh eco-friendly toilets, Financial Express has reported.

Hoardings have also been erected in the premises urging people to use the toilets and and not soil the river. The ultimate aim of the authorities is to achieve an open defecation free Kumbh mela.

The other facilities for the devotees include 50 Reverse Osmosis water ATMs to provide clean drinking water, 1,400 CCTV cameras to monitor the crowd. As per Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, 40,000 street-lights have been installed in the city.

The state government has deployed 1,500 Swachhagrahis to monitor all the public facilities and accommodations. The mela has been provided a total outlay of Rs 4,300 crore from the state government budget to ensure proper facilities.

It was earlier reported that the Yogi Adityanath government has gone all out to ensure that this year’s mela will be the cleanest in India’s modern history. Adityanath has also promised that the event will be both divine and grand.

The Kumbh Mela will commence on 15 January and will go on till 3 March.
