After coming under criticism from Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi during the election campaigning, Congress ruled states of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have decided to come on board with the central government's flagship PM Kisan Nidhi scheme, reports Economic Times.
So far, only 12,888 farmers from all of Madhya Pradesh had been registered on the PM Kisan Nidhi Portal , and of these, only 9,304 farmers had received the first instalment of Rs 2,000 under the scheme.
The Chief Minister (CM) Kamal Nath-led Congress government in the state has directed the officials to send the list all of the approximate 8 million beneficiary farmers by 20 July latest.
In Rajasthan, only 13.75 lakh farmers had received the first instalment of Rs 2,000 against the total potential 55 lakh beneficiaries. So far, none have received their second instalments.
Reviewing the performance of the scheme in Rajasthan, CM Ashok Gehlot on Monday issued instructions for the state officials to ensure that all farmers in the state get registered in the scheme by 30 June, and help desks be setup in all districts to facilitate the same.
