Fantasy sports platform, Dream11 has collaborated with International Council of Cricket (ICC) in an exclusive worldwide partnership as its ‘Official Fantasy Game Partner’ till 2023. The partnership is expected to bring together billions of cricket fans across the world to experience the thrill of playing fantasy sports.
Dream11 will be integrating all branding and marketing collateral of ICC events. The organisation will develop and operate fantasy games relating to all ICC events that will include the T20 matches, World Cup and Test matches across major Men, Women, Junior and Qualifier events. The fans will be able to create their fantasy teams once the official team squads for all the countries are announced.
Commenting on the recent collaboration, David Richardson, CEO of ICC stated, “The ICC is delighted to welcome Dream11 on board for delivering a fantasy cricket platform for cricket’s one billion plus fans across all ICC events. Giving the fans the opportunity to enjoy our sport in various ways, by playing fantasy cricket throughout the tournament or even for individual games, is important to us” as reported by Television Post.
The craze for the fantasy sports has been growing exponentially in India over the past few years. The user base has gone up to five crores from 20 lakh in 2016, and a ten crore fanbase is expected to play the fantasy sports by 2020. This growth has been possible due to the advent of affordable smartphones and cheap high-speed internet access.
