The Union Health Ministry announced on Friday (3 May 2019) the cancellation of Bhubaneswar city as a centre for the AIIMS PG 2019 examination due to the impact of cyclone 'Fani', reports The Tribune.
The cancellation comes as a relief to a large set of aspirants who had been left in a conundrum about their fate with respect to the examination which was scheduled to be held on 5 May 2019.
The conductor of the examination, AIIMS Delhi has said that another exam will be conducted for the students affected by the cancellation of Bhubaneswar centre once normalcy is re-established.
It has also been reported that a part of the roof of a hostel at AIIMS Bhubaneswar was also ripped off by the unbridled cyclone, but all students, staff and patients were learnt to be safe.
Union Health Secretary Preeti Sudan urged people to not pay heed to the rumours and call the dedicated helpline numbers for any pertinent information. The helpline numbers being run for the situation are 011-23061302/23063205/23061469 (fax).
