FM Sitharaman: Budget 2021 Will Strengthen ‘Sankalp Of Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, Focus To Be On These Six Pillars

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her Budget 2021-22 speech in the Parliament today announced that the budget proposals will strengthen the ‘sankalp of Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.
The focus, Sitharaman said, will be on six pillars:
- Health and Well-Being
- Physical and Financial capital and infrastructure
- Inclusive Development for Aspirational India
- Reinvigorating Human Capital
- Innovation and R&D
- Minimum Government, Maximum Governance
She further stated that the Proposals in Part A will strengthen the Sankalp of NATION FIRST, including among other things, the following:
1. Doubling farmers' income
2. Strong Infrastructure
3. Healthy India
4. Good Governance
5. Opportunities for Youth
6. Education for All
7. Women Empowerment, and
8. Inclusive Development
Sitharaman said that India could have never imagined the health crisis that was about to unfold when she presented budget for 2020. She hailed the measures taken by government.
"The total impact of Atmanirbhar Bharat and measures by RBI was Rs 27.1 lakh crore, which amounts to 30 per cent of GDP," Sitharaman said.
The FM said that only three times has the Budget followed a contraction in the economy. This time, unlike before, the situation is due to a global pandemic. She said that Budget 2021-22 provides every opportunity for economy to capture pace and grow sustainably.
