Omarosa Manigault-Newman, a former contestant on TV Reality show The Apprentice, who used to be one of the most prominent African American in Trump Administration, has reportedly accused US President Donald Trump of being a racist in her tell-all memoir.
Manigault-Newman served as the director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison before her abrupt departure in December 2017. She is releasing her book this month (August) titled “Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House.”
In what would be worrying news for the White House officials, Manigault-Newman may have taped high-level administration officials and Trump during her tenure as an assistant to the president, Wall Street Journal has reported.
According to her, Trump was caught on tape repeatedly uttering the “N Word” during the making of his reality TV show The Apprentice.
Manigault-Newman also claimed that she personally witnessed Trump hurling racial epithets against George Conway - the husband of White House counsellor Kellyanne Conway. George Conway is half Filipino.
Sean Spicer, a former White House press secretary, dismissed her claims saying that the “book is nothing more than sour grapes from a disloyal staffer.”
As a fawning fan of Trump from his days as the host of Apprentice, Omarosa was one of the earliest backers of his presidential campaign. She was assigned the task to reach out to and mobilise African American voters. She was also part of his transition team.
Omarosa has prior work experience in White House. She has served in the office of vice-president Al Gore under the Clinton administration.
Omarosa is a church pastor and has a PhD in communications.
