Following the stabbing of a French policewoman by a 36-years-old Tunisian Islamist terrorist, France has launched an anti-terrorism investigation into the incident, reports Livemint.
Following the incident in which the French policewoman was stabbed to death near Paris, President Emmanuel Macron took to Twitter and vowed that France will not give in to Islamist terrorism. He also said that the nation stands by the side of the victim's family, her colleagues and the security forces of the country.
A mother of two, the victim was returning from a lunch break when she was stabbed in the throat twice. After the attack, she succumbed to her wounds shortly afterwards. Following the incident, the security forces shot dead the attacker and also detained three in connection with the attack.
As per the french news channel France24, the attacker had shouted "Allahu Akbar" during the attack. The chief anti-terror prosecutor Jean-Francois Ricard also confirmed that the comments made by the assailant indicated a terror motive.
It should be noted that over the last year, France has witnessed a surge in the spread of radical Islam. To tackle the same, President Macron's government has also introduced a legislation that has outraged some Muslim nations.
