Global Covid-19 Cases Cross 49 Lakh Mark, Death Toll Rises To Over 3.23 Lakh

The total confirmed cases of Coronavirus infections have increased to over 49 lakh globally while the death toll due to the deadly virus, which originated in China’s Wuhan city, has surged to more than 3.23 lakh.
The global tally of Covid-19 patients has risen to 4,901,773 on Wednesday (20 May), with the death toll rising to 323,413, according to the latest data from the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at John Hopkins University.
As many as 1,691,491 people have recovered from the disease, the CSSE data showed.
The United States has reported 1,528,661 Covid-19 positive cases, the highest in the world, followed by 299,941 infections in Russia, 271,885 in Brazil, 250,138 in the United Kingdom, 232,037 in Spain and 226,699 in Italy.
The US has also recorded the highest number of deaths due to the Coronavirus, with as many 91,938 fatalities reported in the country so far. The UK has the second-highest death toll with 35,422 deaths, followed by Italy’s 32,169 fatalities.
