The Union Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) is set to unveil an ‘alternative academic calendar’ for school going students as the government moves to bring in some certainty amid the unprecedented disruption caused in the education sector by the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, reports Times of India.
The alternative academic calendar is likely to contain a subject-wise activity planner besides health and fitness plan for the students with the focus on engaging them in a manner which ensures that they do not suffer from anxiety as an outcome of staying indoors for such a long duration.
The activity planner would consist of daily activities and challenges with reference to the theme or chapter taken from the syllabus or textbook orf the students. These will be aimed at helping the parents and the teachers map the learning outcomes of the children.
The said calendar and activity planner is first likely to be announced for a period of a month for students of classes I to V. Meanwhile, a similar planner is also said to be in the works for senior students. The draft planner though has already been prepared by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and is expected to receive the government's nod soon.
