Announcing a major connectivity boost for Gurugram, the Haryana government has floated a proposal to extend Delhi Metro's Blue Line to the city, reports Times of India.
According to the report, during a Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) meeting in Chandigarh, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar not only expressed his interest in the proposal but also asked for a study on it.
The development gains significance as just days ago the Haryana government led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced that the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro will be extended to the city with 25 new stations.
The project is expected to be executed on the same lines as the Delhi Metro's Green Line extension in Bahadurgarh of Haryana, in which the state took care of the funding and the DMRC implemented the project.
The manifestation of this project would mean Blue line connecting two sides of the National Capital Region - Noida (Electronic City station) and Ghaziabad (Vaishali station) - with Gurugram.
Also it should be noted that if implemented, this project will help decongest the Yellow Line metro which is the only metro line connecting Delhi and Gurugram at present. The final project report for the Yellow Line extension was approved by CM Khattar in Chandigarh last week. The extension is expected to cost Rs 5,126 crore.
