The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) will conduct serosurveys across India to assess the spread of Covid-19 infection in the country, the Health Ministry said on Friday (11 June).
Besides, the ministry also urged the states and union territories (UTs) to conduct their own surveys to gather information about the spread of Covid-19.
"The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) will conduct national sero surveys to assess the Covid spread and states/UTs should also conduct them to get all geographies' information," the Health Ministry said, reports Economic Times.
Meanwhile, pointing towards the declining trend in Covid numbers in India, the ministry said that the pandemic situation in the country is stabilising.
The ministry said that the weekly Covid-19 positivity rate has dropped by 74 per cent since the highest such peak rate reported between 30 April-7 May.
However, it warned against any complacency and urged people to continue following Covid-appropriate behaviour, which includes wearing masks, social distancing and hand-hygiene.
