The income tax department has launched a new e-filing portal in order to further ease the process of filing returns and tax payment.
Taxpayers will be able to access the refurbished portal, i.e. www.incometax.gov.in , in multiple regional languages as well.
However, the taxpayers will now have to again register their digital signature certificate (DSC) and further update their e-mail address along with their mobile numbers.
Furthermore, they will have to act upon any pending action and subsequently respond to the ‘outstanding demand.’
Different tabs have been created for several categories of taxpayers, such as tax professionals, individual, company, non-company etc.
Appropriate instructions regarding tax slabs, status refunds along with details on ITR filing will be provided in a drop-down menu for taxpayers.
Users will also be able to register their grievances in a menu dedicated to the same on the portal. Moreover, the taxpayers will be prompted to update their profile so that they can gain access to the pre-filled ITRs.
The new site will enable taxpayers to raise queries, notices, receive responses, and also convey final orders like appeals and assessments on their respective dashboards, Economic Times reports.
