India, Bangladesh To Discuss Transborder Crime, Smuggling Issues At Border Meet

The Border Security Force (BSF) is set to participate in a Border Coordination Conference for which a seven-member delegation of the Bangladesh BGB has arrived in Agartala, ANI reports. Issues such as trans-border crime and smuggling of contraband items will be discussed in the meeting that will be held at Salbagan frontier headquarters from November 25-27.

Through their official Twitter handle, the Tripura Frontier, Border Security Force revealed, “Today, (the) Bangladesh delegation was given warm welcome on their arrival at Agartala, Tripura, for Inspectors General BSF - Region Comdrs BGB level talks being held on 25-27 Nov 2020 to strengthen the ties by addressing various border issues of bilateral interests, amicably.”

The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has explained that pending developmental works along with the construction of a single-row fence along the India-Bangladesh border will be pondered upon in the conference.
“BSF-BGB Border Coordination Conference being held from 25-27 Nov at Agartala. Transborder crime, smuggling of contraband items, pending developmental works, construction of Single-row Fence along India-Bangladesh border and a Coordinated Border Management Plan to be discussed,” they tweeted.
