In its latest gesture of friendship towards the warn torn nation, India has presented Afghanistan with 100 motorised wheelchairs for critically injured troops of the Afghan National Army (ANA), reports Business Standard.
"India also remains committed to extending medical relief and assistance to the ANA personnel," said a statement by the Defence Ministry.
One of Afghanistan’s closest regional benefactors, India has previously spent hundreds of millions of dollars on development as well as military aid to the country. Also, some 4,880 ANA troops have been imparted training by the Indian Army till date, including in military, professional and educational programmes.
Afghan doctors and medical personnel have also been trained under Indian initiatives.
ANA forces are involved in an almost two decade old brutal conflict with Islamic insurgents such as the Taliban and the Islamic State, and have lost tens of thousands of dead and wounded soldiers over the years.
