Indian Railways Proposes On-Board Shopping On Premium Trains Similar To In-Flight Shopping

The Mumbai Division of the Central Railways (CR) is looking introduce on-board shopping on long distance premium trains such as the Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto Express, reports The Financial Express. Three trains have been suggested – the Konark Express, the Chennai Express and the Ernakulam-Hazrat Nizamuddin Duronto Express.
On-board shopping would be tried on these three trains and if successful, they may be extended to other trains as well. The Railways has said they will use a collapsible trolley to prevent inconvenience.
Passengers would be able to purchase gadgets, cosmetics and other products. Cash payments and digital payments would be accepted.
