In a bid to drive innovation and increase localisation in its key American market, Infosys which is India’s second largest IT services company has opened a new technology and innovation hub at Raleigh in North Carolina. It is believed that the technology hub would network closely with clients in a bid to provide solutions across diverse areas such as machine learning, artificial intelligence and cloud solutions among others.
Business Standard also reports that the new technology hub would partner with North Carolina State University and the Community College System in its efforts to scout talent while also helping employees upgrade their skills for participation in the knowledge economy.
"The inauguration of our Raleigh technology and innovation hub empowers our North Carolina employees by providing them with pioneering technology training that will help American industries revitalise their core businesses,” said Salil Parekh, CEO & MD of Infosys.
Infosys’ initiative towards localisation in the United States in part of a long-term strategy under which it had announced the setting up of four technology and innovation hubs across the country. The first innovation centre was launched in Indianapolis in March and subsequent centres have been planned in Rhode Island and Connecticut.

The report also states that the company has already hired as many as 4,700 Americans since March last year, as part of its goal to add 10,000 Americans to its workforce.
Indian IT firms have increasingly stepped up local hiring as President Trump’s administration has imposed strict restrictions on the issuance of H1-B visas which has major implications for Infosys as 60 per cent of its revenues come from the North American markets.
