Former Indian cricketer and BJP MP from East Delhi Gautam Gambhir has filed a police complaint after he received a death threat from ISIS Kashmir on his official e-mail ID.
Subsequently, Gambhir has requested for ample security arrangements for his protection.
Gaurav Arora, personal secretary of Gambhir, confirmed in a letter to DCP central district that threat has been issued to both the MP and his family in the e-mail sent by ISIS Kashmir.
Moreover, the DCP was asked to inspect into the matter and also make adequate security arrangements for the former skipper of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
“Gautam Gambhir has approached the Delhi Police, alleging he has received death threats from 'ISIS Kashmir'. The investigation is under way. Security has been beefed up outside Gambhir's residence,” DCP Central Shweta Chauhan was quoted in a report by the Times of India (TOI).
Gambhir has been a long-standing vocal advocate of the armed forces and joined the BJP prior to the Lok Sabha elections in 2019. He won the polls handsomely and simultaneously juggles his duties as an MP whilst also being an analyst for the official broadcaster of the Indian cricket team as well.
