There is an increasing tendency nowadays to malign Sanatan Dharma and use derogatory slurs and comments in the name of comedy. In another such incident, a video was doing rounds on social media, albeit for the wrong reason, in which a stand-up comic Surleen Kaur can be heard using derogatory comments for the followers of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) and ancient hindu saints.
The video was published by the company ‘Shemaroo’ on different social media sites, YouTube channel, company’s official website etc.
Condemning the incident, Radharamn Das, Vice President and Spokesperson ISKCON, informed on twitter that ISKCON has lodged a complaint against actress and stand-up comic Surleen Kaur and entertainment company Shemaroo for insulting the organisation and Hindus.
He said, “This is very unfortunate that there has been narrative building against the followers of Sanatan Dharma on different platforms.”

In the complaint addressed to Mumbai Police, the organisation wrote that the language used by Kaur is highly objectionable and defamatory, and it has caused great pain to the followers of Sanatan Dharma, Hindus and ISKCON worldwide devotees.
“There is a hidden propaganda and conspiracy to defame Sanatan Dharma, our Rishi Munis so that the youths can be easily manipulated. Through app’s like Tik-Tok etc the focus of the foreign power’s is to destroy the character of the masses so that country can be easily controlled & destroyed. We can learn this from the example of China itself. When the ancient Chinese decided to live in peace, they made the great wall of china, they thought no one can climb it due to its height”, the letter further added.
Notably, the video was published over a month ago and gained traction in the last couple of days. After facing uproar over publishing the video, Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd took to twitter to issue an apology and added that the said video has been deleted.
Das, however, replied, “ We don't accept your apology @ShemarooEnt. We will proceed legally against you, @BalrajSyal & Surleen Kaur. This has become a trend to demean Sanatan Dharma. No more. We will make an example out of this nonsense. Enough is enough. ”
