In a significant development, the security forces in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) have successfully eliminated three terrorists which included top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Mudasir Pandit, reports Hindustan Times.
As per the information shared by J&K Police, the three were neutralised in North Kashmir's Sopore during an encounter that began yesterday (20 June) evening at Tantraypora Brath village following a tip-off.
It should be noted that Pandit's elimination gains much significance as he was involved in the killing of three policemen, two councillors, and two civilians recently apart from several other terror-related crimes.
The development comes after the joint teams of the Indian Army, J&K Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) began conducting joint operations in the vicinity of Sopore following the terror attack on police in the area on bygone 12 June. The said attack had seen the demise of two policemen and two civilians. J&K Police had then said that LeT was responsible for the attack.
