In a horrific incident, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)'s terrorists bared into a home at Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district yesterday (9 August) and shot dead Ghulam Rasool Dar, a BJP Sarpanch from Kulgam's Redwani Panchayat, and his panchayat member wife Jawahira Begum, reports Times of India.
The development gains significance as the LeT's attack on them came shortly after the couple had decided to return to their home from secure Government-provided hotel accommodation in the district.
The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police have placed the personal security officer (PSO) attached to the couple under immediate suspension given he was not with them when the attack took place.
It should be noted that since last year, terrorists have killed 19 members of the BJP in different attacks which took place in varied parts of the Kashmir Valley. The victims include elected Panchayat members and grassroot workers.
Party's state unit chief Ravinder Raina said, "Once again, Pakistan-sponsored terrorists have bled Kashmir. The sacrifices of BJP workers in Kashmir will not go waste."
