Indian consumers pay the highest prices per litre in the subcontinent while Pakistanis and Sri Lankans pay the lowest for petrol and diesel respectively, a report in The Hindu has stated.
Indians however, pay the lowest for LPG cylinders and Kerosene. India has over 22 crore LPG customers, greater than 80 per cent of which avail government subsidy on LPG. While the price per kilogram of LPG comes out to be Rs 34.76 for subsidised connection, it comes out to be Rs 47.25 for a non-subsidised one.
The prices per kg of cylinder meanwhile for Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangaldesh are Rs 88.95, Rs 65.22, Rs 61.06 and Rs 51.5 respectively making even a non-subsidised cylinder the cheapest in India in the subcontinent.
The prices for Kerosene across the subcontinent are as follows, the lowest being in India.
The petrol prices however were highest in India. (Delhi)
Indians pay the most for diesel too. While Sri Lankans pay the least.
Fuel prices are a hot topic in the country and India and China have reportedly been in talks of forming a bloc against arbitrary oil price hikes imposed by the OPEC.
