Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has formed an advisory committee of three senior ministers to run the government and may soon leave for the United States for medical treatment, Mint has reported.
The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital for a check-up on Monday evening. The second round of Parrikar’s treatment will begin today, and he is expected to be out of Goa until mid-Apri.
The advisory council formed by Parrikar has ministers from three alliance parties - Francis D’souza of the BJP, Sudin Dhavalikar of the Maharashtravadi Gomantak Paksha (MGP) and Vijay Sardesai of Goa Forward (GF).
Parrikar, first admitted to Goa Medical College hospital on 14 February and then shifted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital after complaints of abdominal pain, called a meeting of his government's senior ministers at his private residence before leaving for Mumbai.
He was discharged from the hospital on 22 February and attended the Budget session of Goa Legislative Assembly the same day. On 25 February, he was again admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital after he suffered mild dehydration.
In a video message, Parrikar thanked Goans for their prayers and support.
“I thank you Goans. For the last fortnight, you prayed, and because of your blessings, I have recovered now and am heading to Mumbai. If doctors advise, then I may be go abroad for full recovery to cure my ailment. I hope you continue to bless me, and also allow me to take a few days holidays,” Parrikar said in the message.
According to some reports, Parrikar could be shifted to the US as early as today.
