Comedian Kenny Sebastian became mired in controversy recently after screenshots of him allegedly abusing people on Instagram went viral on social media.
Multiple videos and screenshots were shared widely on social media of comedian’s official account on Instagram, with user id "kennethseb", hurling offensive abuses in the comment section.
After the incident, the National Commission for Women (NCW) took cognisance of his remarks on Friday (9 July).
In a Twitter post, NCW said, “@NCWIndia has been tagged in posts with snippets of misogynistic comments made by stand-up comedian @knowkenny. We've also observed his statement claiming them to be fake. Our Chairperson @sharmarekha has written to @DGPMaharashtra for immediate investigation in the case.”

It should be noted that after the screenshots of alleged abused went viral on social media, the comedian took to Twitter and said that the screenshots were fake and people shouldn’t pay heed to them.
So some fake screenshots of me are circulating where I appear to be abusing people. These are manipulated cause I reported an account who was attacking me cause of my religion.I will be approaching the @MumbaiPolice to get this investigated. Please donât pay heed to any of these.

However, social media users then shared screen-video recordings of their phones to show that the screenshots taken were not manipulated as claimed. One such recording was shared by a social media user name @desimojito who said that the abuses were indeed hurled by the comedian.
