After a landslide victory in Lok Sabha elections 2019, Prime Minister Modi-led NDA government will present its first budget of the second inning today, reports India Today.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will also create history as she would be the first full-time woman finance minister presenting the union budget, starting with the budget speech at 11 am today. Yesterday, Sitharaman presented Economic Survey 2019 in the Parliament.
The budget, second this year after the interim budget in February, can be downloaded from Government of India's official website www.indiabudget.gov.in after the Budget will be tabled in the Parliament.
The constitution mandates an annual financial statement under article 112. Under this, the government presents revenue and expenditure details of the financial year. Apart from that several documents are presented by the government and discussed in the Parliament, including several made mandatory by the FRBM Act.
After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a stunning victory in the elections, all eyes are on the budget for securing high growth rate, job creation as well as farmer welfare.
