On Gujarat Foundation Day yesterday (1 May), Chief Minister (CM) Vijay Rupani said that he is committed to a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, jobs for youth and fair prices for farmers, Hindi daily Dainik Jagran has reported.
Speaking in Bharuch, he spoke of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP)‘s efforts towards the all-round development of the state. On the issue of water availability, he said that he wanted to make Gujarat self-sufficient on the front as he launched a water conservation initiative in Kosamadi village in Ankaleshwar.
Remembering the Sujalam Sufalam initiative launced by then CM Narendra Modi, which brought Narmada water to several towns and cities in Gujarat, he said that he aims to keep working on that front until Gujarat is self sufficient.
Rupani also reaffirmed the BJP government’s commitment to all-round development of the state by ensuring medicine for the poor, fair wages for youth and education for children. He said that the state is already leading on most of these parameters since 2002.
Briefing about the water conservation efforts of the state government, Rupani said that a total of Rs 350 crore will be utilised by five departments of the government towards the aim. 13,000 ponds and check-dams will be dredged and 340 km of rivers will be revived in the state through the program. 580 km of channels will also be cleaned up to ensure that rain water is properly utilised.
